Sadoh noted that as an approved institute, by both the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Federal Ministry of Education, SMA is prepared for its students in the area of professional training.
According to him, the school offer courses in shipping management, marine engineering and nautical sciences and the turn up by students for the current academic session has been impressive.
He added that plan is still on to commence the construction of a survivor pool to enable students get swimming experience, which he said is important for its cadets.
The head of department also disclosed that student from its own department recorded the highest number of intake even as he opted not to disclose the figure.
He said that the other two departments also admitted a large number of students, adding that there has been steady progress made so far in the area of admission, noting that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has also assisted as regards admission.
Sadoh further hinted that loads of activities are on ground to boost the morale of the students; most especially in the area of extra curriculum activities and academics in general.
He added there will lots of excursion for the students to seaports and other maritime related areas this session stressing that, "it will involve both practical and to theory because maritime training goes beyond classroom work".
The Stars official however, pointed out that the current ‘voyage’, that is the academic session will come to a close by December 2014.
