However, the men both pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Friday Eze told the court that the accused, who live at No. 22, Ife St., off Club Road, Egan and No. 4, Club Road, Egan, respectively, committed the offence on Oct. 6.
Eze said that the offence was committed at about 9p.m. at Odun Ade petrol station on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The prosecutor said that the complainant, one Usman Adisa, had directed the accused to supply about 14, 900 litres of diesel to Odun Ade petrol station on Badagry road.
He said that after the accused had supplied the petroleum product, the station manager discovered that the commodity was short by about 2,300 litres.
The prosecutor said the manager then raised a query on the complainant and requested that the remaining diesel should be supplied.
He said that the complainant then called for the arrest of the accused to account for the shortage.
Eze said the accused were, however, unable to give satisfactory explanation for the shortage and so, he ordered that they be kept in custody.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos state 2011.
Magistrate T.O Shomade granted the accused N345, 000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the matter till Nov. 9 for hearing.
