The Depot and Petroleum Marketers Association (DAPPMA) on Friday said that unpaid subsidy claims owed by the Federal Government have continue to hinder importation of petroleum products into the country.
Mr Olufemi Adewole, the Executive Secretary of the association, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos that banks were not ready to give loans to members of his association again.
Adewole said that the few marketers that had the products were loading while the others were looking forward to when the government would settle them.

He said that the marketers were trying their best to ensure that scarcity of petroleum products was reduced to minimal level, but the only solution was for them to start importation.
The executive secretary urged the government to expedite action on the payment so that the marketers would commence importation fully and reduce the hardship associated with the fuel scarcity.
He commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s efforts in seeing that the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited start refining crude oil in July.
Adewole, however, said that it was too early to comment on the development.
NAN recalls that the oil marketers on June 4, said they were still being owed more than N291bn subsidy claims by the Federal Government and denied that they were saboteurs.
