Pilot Died Of Heart Attack On Board Of Tanker, Argentina

Pilot died of heart attack on board of tanker JC BAZAN, berthed in San Lorenzo, Argentina, Parana river, on Mar 2. Ambulance was called, but paramedics couldn’t recover him, and he was declared dead, probably while being still on board. Tanker left San Lorenzo at night LT Mar 2, bound for Buenos Aires.

Disabled Container Ship Towed To Rhodes, Greece

Container ship CONTSHIP FUN suffered mechanical failure on Mar 1 in Aegean sea northwest of Rhodes island, Greece, and was towed to Rhodes port anchorage, northern Rhodes. She was anchored there in the afternoon Mar 3, as of 0400 UTC Mar 4 she was still at anchor. The ship is en route from Thessaloniki to Port Said.

Canadian Trawler With 31 Crew On Fire In North Atlantic UPDATE Sank, Crew Safe

Canadian trawler ATLANTIC DESTINY with 31 crew is on fire some 200 nm SSW of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, since Mar 2. Trawler issued distress signal at 2000 LT Mar 2, reporting fire on board. Later Master reported that fire was extinguished, but some time after the report, fire re-ignited. Water ingress is also reported. As of 0330 UTC Mar 3 all crew are understood to be remain safe, there are several other trawlers in the vicinity, ready to assist if necessary. Helicopter is scrambled to evacuated fishermen, if need arises, Canadian CG ship is also under way. There’s stormy weather in the area, hampering assistance and probable evacuation. Trawler’s AIS is on.

Mar 4 UPDATE: ATLANTIC DESTINY sank on Mar 3, 28 crew were taken to Yarmouth by helicopter during the night. The remaining 3 crew were taken off at about 8:00 Mar 3 and transferred to the Canadian Coast Guard.
