The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, says the service will continue to sponsor the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League.

Adeniyi said on Tuesday in Abuja that this would enhance the development of the sport in the country.

According to him, the service is currently sponsoring the first and second phases of the league as part of support to the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF).

“We are sponsoring the first phase and second phase, we may start talking about whether it is going to be one-off or whether it is going to continue, after this league we will decide.

“The sponsorship we gave to the 2024 league has not ended but we will always be there to extend our support to the federation, ” he said.

The customs boss said that the service has a very rich history of excellent performance in sports.

“We have produced national and international champions before in Boxing and Athletics.

“Our volleyball team is doing very well, they have participated in the African championship a number of times.

“Our basketball team is doing very well, they used to play in the national football league so we have a very rich performance history,”he said.

He advised custom players to put in their best in the 2024  league and make the service proud.

“We encourage our talents to ensure that they give their best when they are competing in any event.

“We will continue to encourage our own athletes also to extend our support and sponsorship to federations that seek assistance from us,”he said.

The Nigeria Customs Service is the sponsor of the 2024 edition of the volleyball premier league.

The league is organised by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) in collaboration with the Nigeria customs service.
