Yes, I Was Invited By The EFCC, But No Big Deal – ANLCA President

The President Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu has cleared the air on his recent invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Prince Shittu confirmed to journalists last week in Lagos that the anti-graft agency invited him for questioning on account of a petition that was written by someone, who according to him is not a member of ANLCA.

The ANLCA boss however waved the incident aside, saying that it is not a big deal for EFCC to discharge its duty as an agency of the federal government, adding that the commission invited him for questioning based on a petition by a non-member of the association.

Although the name of individual was not disclosed by the ANLCA boss, he however urged the media to wait for full details after the EFCC might have concluded its investigations.
Dismissing the invitation and subsequent investigations by the EFCC as a non-issue, Shittu added that, the commission only deals with important persons and not back biters.

According to him, the more you get higher in life, the more you meet people “and I can tell you that there is no skin pain about that invitation”.

"It is good to speculate, but what is wrong if I was invited by EFCC, don't you know that it is a man that is important that EFCC invites"..

He added that it was not his first time to have that experience. "I was invited by ICPC four years ago and they gave me a letter of clean bill, so I was invited by EFCC, petitioned by one person who is not even a member of ANLCA".

"Even if the IG of Police invites me today for questioning, I will go there because there is no big deal because the more you go higher, the more you know the people", he added.

He added also that one of the major problems facing the maritime industry is people wanting things to be done as ‘business as usual’, stressing that the EFCC invitation and investigation is not enough to create panic.
He also urged the media to verify facts and that most of the stories that were written about the EFCC invitation were based on propaganda.
