The PTML command of the Nigeria Customs Service was thrown into mourning yesterday when a petroleum tanker and a container laden truck crushed the driver of a senior customs officer to death in front of MRS Tank Farm at Tin Can Island port in Apapa.
Eye witnesses told Shipping Position Daily that the deceased, who was simply identified as 'Muri' was well known at the PTML command because his boss; who was also identified as Mr. Olagunju, a senior customs officer at the Murtala Mohammed Airport had previously worked at the PTML command.

Eye witnesses told Shipping Position Daily that the deceased, who was simply identified as 'Muri' was well known at the PTML command because his boss; who was also identified as Mr. Olagunju, a senior customs officer at the Murtala Mohammed Airport had previously worked at the PTML command.
Eye witnesses told our correspondent that the deceased was test-driving a new power bike he had purchased for one of the senior officers at PTML command gate office.
"The man was test driving a power bike that was bought by one of the gate officers at PTML and he was on top speed, he ran under truck that was moving", the witness confirmed to our correspondent.
As at the time our correspondent visited the PTML command yesterday, the image maker of the command; Mr. Steve Okonmah was trying to locate members of the deceased family through his mobile telephone.
It was confirmed that, while the petroleum tanker driver escaped arrest, the container truck driver was arrested and detained immediately. Also, body of the deceased driver had been deposited at the mortuary of Apapa General Hospital.
It was also confirmed that, when his relatives were eventually contacted, they requested for his body to be buried yesterday according to Islamic injuctions.
