5. Edike Tasks KLT Customs Officers to Generate Every Kobo

‎The Zonal Coordinator, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Zone `A’, Mr Eporwei Edike has advised officers to generate every kobo for the Federal Government.
Edike, an Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, made the plea during his visit to Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command in Lagos on Friday.
He commended officers of the command for putting in their best despite the challenges presently being faced by the command.

“The little money you are generating goes a long way while collating revenues from the various commands.
“Make sure you collect all the monies meant for government. We must support the Comptroller-General, Retired Col. Hameed Alli to meet our target,’’ he said.
The zonal coordinator promised to forward all complaints made by the officers to the management.
Speaking earlier, the Controller of the command, Comptroller Benjamin Aber said that the command had 18 jetties under its jurisdiction, adding that the jetties were owned by private companies.
“The main operation in the command is discharge of imported petroleum products.
“Most of the petroleum products attract zero duty payment except base oil which comes once in a while.
“Kirikiri command lacks permanent and conducive accommodation for officers.
“Presently the Customs Area Controller and some officers operate from ground floor of NPA’s building,’’ he said.
Aber said that other officers operate from make-shift container structures in the command.
He urged the management to provide the command with befitting vehicles and upgrade the stores and uniforms.
Aber said that the command had a robust relationship with stakeholders and customs agents which led to tremendous success.
He, however, said that the concessioning of the terminal had been put on hold pending further directive from the relevant authority.
