The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted bail to the embattled factional President of Nigerian Ship Owners Association (NISA); Capt. Dada Olaniyi Labinjo
Labinjo who was has been in detention of the Nigerian Navy since September 12 2018, was released to the Economic and Financial Crime commission (EFCC) last week, following continuous pressure on the authorities by his lawyer; Mr. Femi Falana (SAN).
You will recall that the Navy had in October transferred the case files of other 67 detainees to the EFCC but withheld that of Labinjo.
, in an exclusive telephone chat with Shipping Position Daily correspondent about two hours ago, Femi Falana confirmed to our correspondent that Capt. Dada Labinjo has been granted bail following the transfer of his case file to EFFCC yesterday, he informed that the Federal High court granted the embattled NISA president bail this morning.
“He has been granted bail this morning by the Federal high court, but I wouldn’t know the state of his health.
“All those that were detain illegally have been taken to ; all the 67, that we cried out about have been taken to court and I think they have been granted bail by the Federal High Court.
“That’s how it should be done in any civilized society, you don’t just keep people detained for no just reason”, he said.
