Dutch propose floating ports

Dutch architect Dutch Docklands have put forward a project to build floating ports and floating roads on platforms that would be anchored in the sea.
The initiative also encompasses large parking areas and even artificial beaches to overcome the problem of limited space that many large cities on the coast are nowadays experiencing.
The platforms will be made of compressed foam and will be attached to the coast using concrete anchors, which will also allow them to be moved from one place to another if necessary.

The company claims that the platforms will have the ability to absorb tidal movement. Structures that have been so far projected could accommodate the largest vessels afloat.
