Customs Official Credits Adeniyi For Volleyball Team’s Success

The Comptroller of Special Duties, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Haniel Hadison, has commended the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, for inspiring the success of the service’s sporting teams.

Hadison gave the commendation on Monday after the Nigeria Customs men’s volleyball team defeated UCEM Volleyball Club of Enugu 3-0 in the ongoing 2026 National Premier Volleyball League in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Customs secured victory with scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-23 to extend their unbeaten run in the competition to eight matches.

Speaking after the encounter, Hadison said the players displayed professionalism, resilience and competence throughout the match.

“The boys knew they were representing the Nigeria Customs Service under the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs.

“They displayed professionalism, resilience, competence and a high level of capacity throughout the match,” he said.

According to him, the team’s winning mentality reflects the motivational leadership style of Adeniyi, which has encouraged officers and athletes within the service to strive for excellence.

Hadison also praised the Customs boss for repositioning the service in line with international standards and global best practices.

“The Comptroller-General has changed the narrative of the Nigeria Customs Service.

“Customs is now a brand, and everything about the service reflects international standards and best practices,” he said.

He added that the service had recorded significant achievements under Adeniyi’s leadership, including improved revenue generation, increased seizures of smuggled goods and enhanced contributions to national security.

The comptroller expressed confidence in the ability of the Customs helmsman to further advance the growth of the service and the country.

“He still has so much to offer the service and the nation.

“We believe there is much more to come from his leadership.

“I urge the men’s and women’s teams to remain focused and sustain their winning momentum,” Hadison said.

He described the Comptroller-General as a master strategist and expressed confidence in the ability of the Customs teams to challenge for the league title.

“The boys and the ladies should continue on this path and come out on top.

“Nothing should discourage them because the Comptroller-General and the entire management of the Nigeria Customs Service are solidly behind them,” he said.

NAN reports that the National Premier Volleyball League features 12 teams each in the men’s and women’s categories.

The competition, which began on June 13, will end on June 28 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
