African Acquires Marine Wastes Evacuation Trucks

African Circle Pollution Management Limited, Nigeria’s leading pollution management company has taken delivery of eight brand new wastes evacuation trucks. The trucks have since been deployed to Lagos ports to commence operations.
At a brief ceremony where the trucks were formally commissioned and deployed, the port manager, in Can Island Port, Mr Ephraim Efioita commended African Circle for living up to its obligations and fulfilling the terms of its contract with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
He confirmed that the company’s partnership with NPA was working perfectly and that the imported, new waste evacuation trucks were a demonstration of the efficiency of African Circle.
According to him, the company partners “ with NPA in the areas of reception of bilge and wastes from vessels and what you are seeing here is part of the facilities that are required for the service”.
The company has a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) agreement with the NPA to provide waste reception and treatment facilities in all Nigerian ports.
Also speaking, African Circle’s Regional Manager, West, Mr Ahmadu A. Ahmadu explained that the trucks were bought by the company to facilitate its operations, even as eh confirmed that in line with the agreement with NPA, the equipment would eventually be transferred to NPA as  part of the BOT agreement.
He also confirmed that the eight trucks would all be deployed to Lagos, adding the remaining 20 trucks that are being expected would be deployed to Warri, Port Harcourt and Calabar.
He also disclosed that four out of the eight trucks are trailer tankers for ports operations with the capacity of over 33,000 litres each, while the other four trucks have the capacity of over 25,000 litres each.
Ahmadu also explained that once a ship comes, the trucks would be positioned alongside, it will take the sludge or any other wastes, move them to African Circle’s plant at the Nigerdock, Tin Can Island for recycling.
