The Mobility Command Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force in Bayelsa State last week joined in the fight against crude oil theft and illegal refinery operations in the Niger Delta, even as it has commenced its operation in that region.
In addition to the Mobility Command, which is expected to compliment the effort of the Joint Task Force codenamed Operation Pulo Shield, in the crusade against crude oil thieves and illegal refinery operators, the Nigerian Navy is to establish a central command in Bayelsa, known for having the longest coastline in the country.

Also, a delegation of the Nigerian Navy is also expected to establish its central Command in the state.
It was reported that crude oil thieves and illegal refinery operators are currently exploiting the region's dense mangrove vegetation and maze of creeks to carry out their nefarious activities.
It was also gathered that the planned establishment of the Navy's central command in the state, in addition to the Mobility Command, was based on the country's socio-economic and strategic interests in Bayelsa State being located in the heart of the Niger Delta.
Indication that it would not be business as usual for the crude oil thieves and illegal refinery operators emerged during the visit of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Umar, to the state.
Governor Seriake Dickson, who received him and his entourage, said government had declared zero tolerance to crime and all criminal tendencies.
