Importation of vehicles and other commodities into Angola experienced a sharp drop for the quarter in 2016 as total number of 21,556 units of cars were imported within the stated period.
This information was contained in the latest edition of the statistics bulletin released by the country's National Shippers Council (CNC).
The import of cars recorded the greatest fall with 91.28 percent in the first quarter of 2016 as compared with the same period the previous year.
According to the document, 2059 units of vehicles entered the country within the period against 23615 units of the previous year.
Analyst said the scarcity of foreign currencies led to the drop on low importation for 2016 due to crude oil sales of the country.
The drop in car importation to the country stood at 21, 556 units with no hope to rise in the coming months.
Analysis from the statistics further revealed that China remained the main Angola trade partner, despite a drop of more than half of importation.
Angola imports have been greatly affected by the shortage of foreign currencies, following the economic and financial crisis facing the country, as a result of the drop in crude oil price in the world market.
