Even as the national president of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents [ANLCA], Prince Olayiwola Shittu has been described as a leader who has created globally recognized standards for the association and the freight forwarding sub- sector of the maritime industry, chapter executives of the association have been advised to emulate their leader in a bid to succeed.
This advised was given yesterday in Lagos by a renowned member of the association, Chief Achike Molokwu who spoke to Shipping Position Daily on his assessment of the present leadership of ANLCA.
Even as the national president of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents [ANLCA], Prince Olayiwola Shittu has been described as a leader who has created globally recognized standards for the association and the freight forwarding sub- sector of the maritime industry, chapter executives of the association have been advised to emulate their leader in a bid to succeed.
This advised was given yesterday in Lagos by a renowned member of the association, Chief Achike Molokwu who spoke to Shipping Position Daily on his assessment of the present leadership of ANLCA.
Molokwu said that the present leadership of ANLCA under Prince Shittu has been able to establish a standard that is worthy of emulating by chapter executives of the association, pointing out that the branch officers are not living up to expectation.
He noted that the performance of the various chapter executives have been below average which cannot be compared to that of the national president of the association.
‘’If not for the fact that the national executives are living above board, that is what made ANLCA what it is today and if it were the chapters level that we are looking at to make ANLCA then we will fail because come to look at it, all the chapters are working below 50 per cent and there is no exemption to all the chapters’’.
The association’s branches include: Port and Terminal Multi services Limited [PTML], Tin Can Island, Seme, Apapa, Muritala Mohammed Airport, Idiroko, Lily pond and Ikorodu, Abuja, Kano, Onne, Port Harcourt, Warri.
‘’President Shittu two years in office has been able to create a remarkable standard for ANLCA and if you look at the global trade which is moving, he felt that the association must move with the global trade’’.
‘’He has been able to affiliate ANLCA with other international bodies, we have about five or six affiliated bodies now of which he has taken the association along which includes the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria,[CRFFN]so if you judge with all what I have said you will agree with me that the president of the association is doing a very good job’’.
‘’When you add another two years to his tenure now which is going to be four years, you will agree with me that the sky will the limit of ANLCA and as a matter of fact the association should be graduating from being an association to the next level’’
Encouraged by these achievements and good track records, Molokwu opined that the president of the association should come back for a second term after completing his first four years.
‘’We are look for continuity, in other words I am of the opinion that he should think of coming back again for a second term to solidify what he has been able to create for the past years’’ he noted.
