ANLCA Inaugurates Award Committee

A new committee saddled with the responsibility of organising a benefitting awards ceremony and to also recommend persons of proven integrity within or outside the nation’s maritime sector eligible for recognition has been inaugurated   by the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents [ANLCA].
The committee tagged ‘ANLCA National Honours Award Committee was inaugurated yesterday at the national secretariat of the association in Lagos and is chaired by the association’s immediate past national president; Sir Ernest Elochukwu.

The committee tagged ‘ANLCA National Honours Award Committee was inaugurated yesterday at the national secretariat of the association in Lagos and is chaired by the association’s immediate past national president; Sir Ernest Elochukwu.
Speaking at the ceremony, national president of the association Prince Olayiwola Shittu said that, the issue of honours in the industry has been an all comers affair, adding that as an institution in the maritime sector there is need for ANLCA to do things as professionals.
He said that ‘’we need a platform for professionals that will enhance the interest and welfare of our members and ANLCA is the association without no founders but joiners that has stood the test of time.’’
According to the president, the award committee is set up to organize a befitting honour awards for members of the association which will be a reference point for international affiliations.
‘’We are the only association in the industry that has international affiliation and our international partners especially International Federation of Customs Brokers Association are prepared to lend their hands into whatever activities we are doing’’, he assured.   
‘’During this period we might have international presence where they will give speech and even advice our government on how to propel  the operations of the Nigeria customs brokers and to a larger extent the freight forwarding industry’’, he stated.
He said that it is the duty of the committee to recommend classes of award to be given to prospective recipients and to carry out any other assignment that may be directed by him towards a successful award ceremony.
Other members of the ANLCA national honours award committee are:  former national vice president of the association, Mr. Dayo Abdulazeez as secretary, Eastern zonal coordinator of the association, Chief Dennis Ukwu , Chairman Onne seaport chapter , Sir Ossy Prestige , Vice Chairman Presidential Compliance Committee ,Chief Oye Ariyo and Chief Roland Opara from Apapa chapter of the association.
In his response, Chairman of the committee, Sir Ernest Elochukwu stated that the new committee is a reaffirmation of the missing link between the past and the present and therefore called for synergy to exist amongst members of the association.
Elochukwu, on behalf of the committee expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to them and assured that the team will live up to expectation.
‘’We are happy with the performance and that is why we feel honoured to be called in order to contribute our best to the growth of our association’’ Elochukwu stated.
He assured that the maiden award by the association will serve as a reference point in ANLCA and the maritime industry.
