Hon. Dakuku Peterside, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), has said that the faulty  gas pipeline from Apapa, Lagos to Ibadan in Oyo state will be repaired soon.
Peterside said this last week in Ibadan when he led his committee   on a courtesy visit to Gov. Abiola Ajimobi.
The lawmaker said Ibadan was strategic to other parts of the South West Zone in the supply of petroleum products, adding that whatever happens to Ibadan depot would affect the entire region.
He said the repair of the gas pipeline became necessary to offer cheaper and alternative source of energy for cooking as  to kerosene  was no longer available at the control price.
Peterside, who said the committee was in the state to assess NNPC facilities as part of   its oversight function, called on government  for support in the repair of the pipe line which also supplies Kwara.
Responding, the governor acknowledged the importance of the gas pipe line to the development agenda of his administration.
Ajimobi said that availability of gas would enable the state to generate electricity and also provide cheap energy for cooking.
He said government was already discussing with some investors that would use  gas to generate electricity for the state.
The governor gave an assurance that his administration was ready to give necessary support in the repair of the pipe line.
