President of Senior Staff Association of Communications, Transport and Corporations (SACTAC) NPA Branch, Comrade Jimoh Umar, has criticized the management of Dangote Cement for their failure to control the pollution being caused by their factory located at the Apapa Port.

President of Senior Staff Association of Communications, Transport and Corporations (SACTAC) NPA Branch, Comrade Jimoh Umar, has criticized the management of Dangote Cement for their failure to control the pollution being caused by their factory located at the Apapa Port.
Speaking at the 21st Joint Consultative Conference (JCC) of the association in Ibadan last week, Umar noted that all the offices located around the factory have been covered up by pollutant dust of cement producing by Dangote Cement, according to him; this has caused the untimely death of some port workers.

The union leader said it was unfortunate that the management of Dangote Cement operate in other ports in West African ports with modern cement factory machine without causing pollution but operating in Apapa port causing pollution without consideration to the environment.
Umar lamented that despite various government directives to Dangote cement factory to vacate the port the organization has remained adamant.
He noted that Dangote as the most respected corporate organisation in the country should vacate its cement factory from the port to safe lives of port workers and the environment.
