CIoTA Admits 151 Members At It’s Mid-Year Membership Induction

The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIoTA) at its Mid-Year Membership Induction Ceremony which held in Lagos last week, inducted 151 members into its fold.

In a statement made available to our correspondent by the Institute’s National Publicity Secretary and Chairperson, Media and Publicity Committee, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika, she informed that 58 members and 93 associate members were inducted totaling 151 inducted members.

She said the programme was chaired by His Royal Majesty, Oba Rafiu Ishola Balogun, the Elejinrin of Ejirinrin Land.

She added that, the event which had as its theme: “Building Professional Career In The Transport Industry”, saw the inductees take the oath of allegiance upon conferment of membership grades, and were charged to be excellent ambassadors with the obligation to pursue and actualize the Mission and Vision of the Institute.

According to the statement, “In his welcome address, the President/Chairman of CIoTA Governing Council, Dr. Bashir Jamoh informed all that the prestigious professional membership of the institute will be given to deserving men and women with enviable socio-economic activities at the mid-year induction ceremony which is very significant in the annals of this institute. This is because, hitherto the induction event was usually held only at the Institute’s annual summits held in Abuja.

“Dr. Bashir Jamoh stated that the induction of distinguished and eminent individuals at the auspicious occasion is in line with the Institute’s culture of churning out professionals to meet the demands for knowledge and certification of professionals in the sector.

“Upon conferment of membership,grades, the new Inductees who took the oath of allegiance were charged to be excellent ambassadors with the obligation to pursue and actualize the Mission and Vision of the Institute.

“He went further to aver that CIoTA is a progressive Institution that will not relent in advocating for an efficient and effective transportation systems across all the modes for greater national economic prosperity.”

In his remark, the Deputy President Mr. Darlington Ofor stated that CIoTA has always played the leading role in the actualization of seamless and reliable support for the development of the transport Sector across all the modes and urged transport Stakeholders to continue to collaborate for professional utilization of professional expertise in the Sector.

The Chairman of the occasion His Royal Highness Oba Rafiu Balogun who spoke through his representative, a Governing Council member, Dr. Dom Obiajulu disclosed that the present administration is working to consolidate and the Institute’s mandate through the implementation of policies that will bring significant improvement from the foundation laid by its founding fathers. He took all participants through the memory lane of the great contributions made by the founding fathers which has continued to make the Institute attractive to more professionals.

He maintained that in order to stay in line with the vision, all members must play their integral roles in contributing and ensuring meaningful development of the sector.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said that the State is committed to meeting the transport needs of a rapidly growing population through the introduction of Lagos Bus Services Limited.

He went ahead to explain the ongoing projects currently under execution in the bid to continue providing a well-structured transport system that will address traffic gridlocks across the metropolis.

During the Presentations, the Speakers Professor Bamidele Badejo and Prof. Charles Asenime, while underscoring the appropriateness of the theme of the induction ceremony, “Building Professional Career in the Transport Industry”, informed inductees to utilize the privilege of being part of the memorable event and network for deeper synergy and collaboration across the modes for strategic integration of purpose.

The new Inductees were advised to apply their knowledge and robust content of the Institute’s curriculum as a standard in executing their professional roles for a transportation Sector that will optimally be beneficial to everyone’s day to day movement.
