The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has commenced moves for the registration of its Higher Diploma in Freight Forwarding course.

Registrar of the council; Sir Mike Jukwe, confirmed to journalists recently  that the council will  be defending its request in Singapore  for Higher Diploma approval from the International Federation of Freight Forwarding Associations (FIATA).

FIATA which is based in Switzerland had in October 2012 approved the International Diploma in Freight Forwarding programme for CRFFN for which the council accredited some training institutions in the country to serve as training centres.

Should the council's request be granted, Jukwe said Nigeria will be the first African country to attain the feat which will add to its achievements in addition to its register of freight forwarders and other moves aimed at sanitising the profession in accordance with the CRFFN Act of 2007.

The institutions that have been accredited by the CRFFN for the Diploma training programme are: Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria; Redeemers University, Ogun; Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, (MAUTECH) and Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

Others are: Maritime Academy of Nigeria Oron, Akwa Ibom; Benue State University, Markurdi; Multi Mix Academy, Abuja; Certified Institute of Shipping, Lagos; International Maritime Training Centre and Fortune Business School, Lagos.
