Few days after two prominent freight forwarders were warned to desist from acts capable of denigrating the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), one of them; the founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF); Dr Boniface Aniebonam has been invited by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Offences Commission (ICPC).

The founder of NAGAFF, who was accused alongside the national president of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA); Prince Olayiwola Shittu last week by the CRFFN was guest of ICPC in Abuja on Tuesday.
Confirming his ordeal to Shipping Position Daily, Dr Aniebonam said that he was actually grilled by the anti-graft agency officials for hours, based on a petition that was written against some individuals.
Even though, the NAGAFF founder failed to give details of the questioning, he never-the-less pointed accusing fingers at the registrar of CRFFN; Sir Mike Jukwe for his travails.
When  asked why he felt that Jukwe was behind the petition, Dr Aniebonam disclosed that, he had no doubt about the source of the petition, going by the line of questioning by the ICPC officials.
He also disclosed that presidents of all the registered freight forwarding associations have been invited by the ICPC, based on the same petition.
However, Shipping Position Daily confirmed that the petition is in connection with collection of transaction fees, and that the presidents of the five registered freight forwarding associations have also been summoned.
According to a source who is privy to the unfolding face-off, specifically, the associations’ presidents are being invited to say what they know about the allegations that levies akin to transaction fees were being collected in some places.
However, Dr Aniebonam confirmed to our correspondent that his invitation is in connection with the botched attempt by CRFFN to collect transaction fees in all seaports and airports in the country.
