CRFFN Encourages ANLCA, NAGAFF To Own Training Institutions

The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has tasked freight forwarding associations, especially the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) to set up training institutions for the training of their members.

Registrar of the CRFFN, Sir Mike Jukwe in a chat with Shipping Position Daily correspondent in Lagos said that the Council is ready to accredit such institutions once they can meet its requirement.

Jukwe pointed out that this will further make it easy for freight forwarders to get trained, especially when the associations already know where their challenges lie.

The CRFFN Registrar noted that, even though the Council had accredited certain training institutions to carry out training of freight forwarders, the Council encourages them to organise weekend training programmes.

"It would be very difficult to take the freight forwarders full time into the class room because they will not want to leave their jobs, this is why we have set up weekend programmes", he explained.
"If NAGAFF or ANLCA has an institution or they want to set up one to train their members, once they meet the criteria, they will be accredited"

"We encourage associations to come up with training outfits so that it would be easier for their members, they know the problems of their members" he stressed.

Jukwe said that if the associations have a training institutions in Apapa, by the time they finish their normal jobs in the evening, it will be easy for them to come and receive tutorials.

"They can also come on weekends for lectures because they cannot abandon their jobs during the week" he said.
