Definitely, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency under the leadership of Buba Marwa and Nigeria in particular is winning the war against drug importation and usage. This is because the NDLEA has been constant in the news lately making incredible headlines about seizures.

I would say Yes. Following the recent drug seizures, I think the NDLEA is doing a good job. We are winning the war because if not for the interventions of the NDLEA we would have a dangerous society full of drug addicts, causing serious menace to the citizens. In my own opinion, I would say Nigeria is winning the war.

The drug war cannot be won, because while the government is fine-tuning strategies to fight the drug war the barons are also fine-tuning strategies to mitigate the government policies. Nigeria is not winning because there are other thousands of routes where illicit and prohibited items come into the country. If you are carrying any exhibit from the North you will just settle them and if they settle you as a Customs and refuse to collect the money, they will kill you. It is only in the South that they jail and arrest drug barons. Most of the Chinese tablets and Tramadol enter through the North and no body checks them. If you come on their way, they eliminate you.. They are not winning any war, instead it is expanding like wild fire.

I absolutely agree with the notion that Nigeria is winning the war against drug importation and usage in Nigeria, due to the way and manner drug traffickers and users are being detected and apprehended by NDLEA at different locations across the country, especially at the nation’s air and seaports.

It is the ones we see that are being arrested that we talk about and it ends there. What about the ones we don’t get to see and they just go without being arrested? For me, everything in Nigeria is that we are just managing to believe that we are still a country. In real terms, we are not wining any war against drugs, kidnapping or terrorism now.

The way they are going by it is good, because of the menace it has caused in the society. There should be a lot of sensitisation on the menace of the use of drugs by our youths. If we don’t fight it, it may go out of hand and our society will be full of mentally deranged people. I think we should support NDLEA, because it is not easy fight the war because the Cartels behind it have their structures and they are very powerful. If the drugs can be stopped from coming in through the sea, then drug usage and importation will be minimal in the country. The volume they can take through the air will not be voluminous like the ones they bring through the sea or land.

The approach of the NDLEA is a very wrong one. That is not the way to win the war. To me, they are not winning the war because they are taking it the wrong way. They can win the war when they resist and arrest those drug traders and not our members. If they arrest our members, they have only taught the drug traders another way to go and that will not stop them from continuing. They should work hand in hand with the stakeholders to win the war.

I don’t think they are winning the fight. If they are actually winning, then no drug will be coming in. Somebody must have been conniving with them to encourage them. The drug importers are enjoying the encouragement. It is only those who don’t comply that will be exposed. It does not take anything for the government mercenaries if they really want to stop it. They should work on the laid-down rules and penalties. If they are well-addressed and the people know they have stiffer penalties, it will stop. Even if it will happen, it will be on very rare occasions. But many believe once they can bribe their way out, they will be free to bring the drugs in.
