Russia’s vessels are not permitted to dock anywhere in Europe owing to the sanctions regime, but Sunny Liger, Russia’s oil tanker, sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands and is, therefore, exempt.
Employees working at the Port of Amsterdam have been refusing to unload an oil tanker from Russia that was earlier refused docking at a port in Sweden, and has now been anchored in the sea lock in IJmuiden, NOS broadcaster reported.
Amsterdam dock employees say they would refuse to unload the boat should it attempt to dock. When the boat arrived in Sweden, employees refused to unload it.
The FNV Havens Director, Asmae Hajjari, mentioned to NOS Radio 1 Journaal that the trade union is striving to make sure that the municipality refuses entry to the tanker. The vessel is not welcome as the committee declares it infected.

The spokesman for Ukraine’s foreign ministry, Oleg Nikolenko, commented on the matter. He tweeted, asking dockworkers working in Amsterdam to follow suit of the colleagues from Sweden. He urged them to deny providing any service to Sunny Liger.
While the Dutch government has said that it wants to take steps toward becoming less reliant on Russia’s gas, no announcement has been made official on the matter.
