Five Star Terminal Receives More Brt Buses For Lagos Roads

Frontline indigenous terminal at Tin Can Island port in Lagos; Five Star Logistics Terminal last week received another batch of the Bus Rapid Transit [BRT] buses imported for the Lagos state government’s mass transport system.
The luxury buses are expected to commence commercial activities as soon as they leave the Five Star Logistics terminal. Clearing procedures which were at top speed last week were being handled by  Alraine; a multinational freight forwarding firm.

The luxury buses are expected to commence commercial activities as soon as they leave the Five Star Logistics terminal. Clearing procedures which were at top speed last week were being handled by  Alraine; a multinational freight forwarding firm.
 The BRT initiative is being financed by Unity Bank in conjunctions with HFZ transportation.     
According to the assistance Manager Planning and Statistics of Five Star Logistics, Mr Chuks Okereafor the BRT buses are coming into the country in batches and more are expected .“The buses were transported into the country through a vessel called Hoegh Dubai and more of the vehicles are expected to arrive the country in a couple of weeks due to the fact that they come in batches’’, he disclosed at the terminal last week.
A commercial transport operator,  Mr Tolu Soremekun  explained that the major aim of the buses is for capacity reduction of traffic, its affordability and the comfort the citizens get from it.
He told Auto Port Weekly that the Buses which are referred to LAMATA buses come in two colours and that originaly it is imported in blue and grey, before it is repainted into red.
The state Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola had said on a radio programme recently that the BRT buses are not owned by the state government, but by the owners of commercial buses popularly called   Molue as a means of tackling the problem of poverty and to ease transportation in the state. According to him the buses are to make life comfortable to the common man that is facing difficulties of transport fare and to reduce traffic on the highway.
