… Gov Oshiomhole Too

Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has called on the Federal Government to review its recent policy which allows used vehicles of up to 15 years old to be imported into the country.
Oshiomhole who made the call  recently at the launch of NISSAN Motors  Centre in Benin , the state capital said the government should rather encourage the establishment of car assembly plants in the country which will not only allow Nigerians to drive cars at affordable prices, but provide jobs opportunities for them.

Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has called on the Federal Government to review its recent policy which allows used vehicles of up to 15 years old to be imported into the country.
Oshiomhole who made the call  recently at the launch of NISSAN Motors  Centre in Benin , the state capital said the government should rather encourage the establishment of car assembly plants in the country which will not only allow Nigerians to drive cars at affordable prices, but provide jobs opportunities for them.
Besides, the governor called on the SDD Motors Nigerian Limited and Nissan Motors International to begin to explore the use of alternative source of energy, saying that Nigeria was very rich in abundant natural gas.
"It will therefore not out of place if Nissan Motors consider the use of compress natural gas by vehicles imported into the country by collaborating with the Nigerian Gas Company in this regard. Apart from prolonging the life span of a vehicle, the use of Compress Natural Gas also promotes cleaner and healthier environment."
"What is more, Natural Gs which is the raw material for CNG is at Oben, Edo State and the largest in the country. NIPCO, a specialized oil and gas industry having compressed gas and the handling of the technology for automobiles conditioned for the use of CNG is already well established in Benin with about four workshop as outlets for use by interested consumers", he said.
The governor said that his administration was ready to partner with SDD Motors Nigeria Ltd and other private entrepreneurs for the development of the state even as he added that he was working tirelessly to make Edo state investors friendly.
Earlier in his address, the managing Director of MD Alliance Autos Nig Ltd, Mr. Ian Middleton promised that SSD Motors Nigeria ltd will observe all standards in respect of safety and quality service s its ultra modern show room was replete with Nissan high tech- serving equipment.
He urged the government and the private sector in the state to do business with SDD Motors Nig. Ltd as it was well positioned to provide them with satisfactory services.
