IOTA To Hold Continual Professional Development Workshop This Week

Following on-going  moves by the new administration to revamp it to a world class body, the Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria [IOTA] has said it is set to hold a two-day workshop tagged; ‘’Continual Professional Development [CPD] for professionals in the transport and logistics industry.

Following on-going  moves by the new administration to revamp it to a world class body, the Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria [IOTA] has said it is set to hold a two-day workshop tagged; ‘’Continual Professional Development [CPD] for professionals in the transport and logistics industry.
According to the institute, the new date for the rescheduled programme is 17th and 18th of May. Papers are expected to be presented on topics such as; Entrepreneur and managerial skill: A necessity for attaining targets in transport operation, and “Understanding transport as a mover of national economy.”
Other papers to be presented at the workshop include; intermodal transport operations and control: key issues, as well as logistics and physical distribution management; mastering the act of advance planning.
According to IOTA,the institute is set to commence the training programme for stakeholders who wish to acquire a Post Graduate Diploma [PGD]in transport and logistics management, graduate professional diploma examinations and professional diploma examinations.
‘’The PGD will qualify you for a full corporate member of IOTA and it also gives you eligibility into a  range of masters programme in maritime ,aviation or transport management in reputable universities in Nigeria and overseas’’.
‘’There are about 15 courses available in the programme which includes: transport management and administration, maritime transport and seaport administration, aviation and airports administration, logistics management, management information system ,pipeline and petroleum transport/traffic education and safety’’
IOTA also disclosed that in the graduate professional diploma examination, applicants must possess WAEC, GCE, SSCE or its equivalents, adding that there is also a special arrangement for the armed forces dealing with logistics and supplies including the Nigeria Army, Navy, Customs, Airforce and Federal Inland Revenue Service among others.
 Sole Administrator of the institute, Prince Don Aki told Shipping Position Daily in Lagos that it is part of the process of revamping the foremost transport institute for the growth of the industry and to encourage manpower development in the country.
