Once again, vehicles sales at the popular ‘national bus stop’ end of the Tin Can Island port has commenced after last December’s raid of the ‘market’ which houses hundreds of used vehicles by men of the Nigerian Navy.
The resumption was as a result of series of negotiations between the Tin Can Island Motor Dealers Association and the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA).

The resumption was as a result of series of negotiations between the Tin Can Island Motor Dealers Association and the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA).
Sources confirmed to Shipping Position Daily recently in Lagos, that the mediator who happened to the wife of an ex-Major General in the Nigeria army has been given the boot as she has no role to play in the collection of money from the dealers who sell vehicles at the port premises.
The woman allegedly collects dues from the automobile dealers in the premises which she in-turn remit to her ‘landlord’.
The landlord in question is unknown as some of dealers prefer not to disclose his identity of the owners of the Oando filling station where the auto market is located or the NPA.
Our sources disclosed that sale of used vehicles had commenced at the premises for over three weeks even as they pointed out that business activities is gradually coming back to normal.
According to them, there are possibilities that the auto dealers will remain in the premises for a very long period.
Some of the dealers who spoke with our correspondent however expressed hope of gaining their customers back after many months of absence.
One of them, Mr. Acho Uwalaka said that it was not easy for them to adjust to the situation they found themselves after the long period of sourcing for a place to settle and do their business.
The dealer said that all hands are on deck to ensure that the premises is conducive for business to thrive and assured that the place will be free of dirt and be made environmental friendly to port users.
He also expressed gratitude to God and thanked the concerned authority for making them to continue their business at the premises.
However Shipping Position Daily findings revealed that customers are gradually coming to the premises for purchases.
Meanwhile a large number of vehicles were spotted at the Oando filling station market even as the main entrance to the arena is still barricaded with containers.
