NAFDAC Arrests 7 Suspected Smugglers

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has disclosed that it arrested seven suspected smugglers and drug counterfeiters.
NAFADAC’s Director-General, Dr Paul Orhii, made this known when he briefed newsmen in Lagos.
Orhii said that one of the suspects was intercepted on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway with four trucks of suspected fake McDowell Reserved Whiskey.
He said that the goods made their way into the country through the land border.

Orhii said that one of the suspects was intercepted on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway with four trucks of suspected fake McDowell Reserved Whiskey.
He said that the goods made their way into the country through the land border.
The director-general  added that it arrested another suspect found manufacturing fake drugs and recovered fake products worth N31.28 million.
“Also recovered are dry-ink coding machines used for blister packaging and printing of labels and codes on the counterfeited medicines,’’ he said.
He said that the agency also arrested a woman who had been operating with a forged Pharmacists Council licence and arrested another suspected drug dealer with drugs valued   N19.5 million.
Orhii said that two other suspects had confessed to illegal manufacture of fake Red Lebal Whiskey and Carlo Rossi wine.
“Five packets of Jonny Walker, five cartons of Carlo Rossi Wine and 46 cartons of Red Label Whiskey were also recovered from them,” he said.
The NAFDAC chief said that the suspects were arrested based on tip-off from members of the public, adding that investigation was ongoing.
