NAGAFF New Boss Urged To Focus On Capacity Building For Practitioners

The newly-elected national president, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Mr. Oluwole Adeyemi has been advised by the outgoing president of the association; Chief Eugene Nweke to focus on capacity building programme for members.
Chief Nweke gave the advice last week during the handover ceremony held in Lagos, even as he also urged the new leader of the association to work assiduously to ensure that upcoming freight forwarders are trained to optimal level of the profession.
He also lauded effort and encouragement from government agencies that supported the association with materials and facilities to enable the sustainability of the Redeemer University programme that is currently on-going at the NAGAFF headquarters.
According to him, capacity building for members should be the cardinal point of the new president and he should lay emphasis on professionalism, noting that manpower development remains the vision of the association.
He said the association in collaboration with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) and Redeemers University has trained quite a large number of members, noting that the sandwich programme has impacted positively on other associations in the freight forwarding practice, aside his members.
The former president further disclosed that the Memorandum of Understanding reached with some agencies has contributed immensely to the development of the current programme at NAGAFF headquarters.
Nweke added that  there are on-going restructuring at the headquarters of the association in line with capacity building for freight forwarding practitioners, urging the new president to continue from where he had stop.
‘’Professionalism is not all about shouting  or turning down tables, but it has to do with upstairs and brain tasking ,acumen because a professional freight forwarder is that man that is  versatile ,who can sit down at any given moment, add one and two together and understand tenets of the profession’’.
The frontline freight forwarder said the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), all contributed immensely through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support the growth and development of the Redeemers University, CRFFN and NAGAFF programme for practitioners.
He said the agencies have been supportive in the area of training and there is need for the new boss of the association to key into a robust working relationship with the agencies of government.
In his advice to the new president, he said there is need for him to relate with the agencies of government in the area of capacity building to further equip the members professionally in the freight forwarding practice.
