Seme border cChapter of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has advised freight forwarders at the border post to shun the act of patronizing   imported vehicles that are smuggled into Nigeria through Cotonou port.

Newly-elected Chairman of NAGAFF, Seme Chapter; Eze Ekene Ajunwa said this in a chat with journalists shortly after winning the election last week in Lagos.

Speaking, he said that there is the need for freight forwarders operating at the border post, most especially the Cotonou axis to cooperate and encourage the Nigeria Customs Service in its quest to eradicate smuggling of vehicles into the country.

He added that there is need for agents at Seme to avoid being used to bring in smuggled vehicles, urging importers to make honest and genuine declaration to the customs.

Ajunwa noted that, "we have advised our members overtime not to be involved in the act of smuggling of vehicles into the country through our borders"

"We are law-abiding citizens of the country and I think we should also support the customs and discourage smuggling of vehicles into the country through the borders".

Even though he was re-elected as the Seme Chapter Chairman of the National Association of Government Approved Freight, (NAGAFF),Eze Ekene Ajunwa has aspired to become the future deputy national president of land borders of the association.

Because according to him, vying for such position will enable him to further discourage smuggling of vehicles through land border and also help in making  international trade to thrive in Nigeria.
