Even though he was expected to resume at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja yesterday the new Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service; Col Hameed Ali (rtd) failed to show up yesterday, fuelling series of speculations.
Shipping Position Daily notes that all the appointees which approved by President Muhammadu Buhari last week Thursday were sworn-in yesterday at the Presidential Villa. They are: Engr. Babachir David Lawal – Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Abba Kyari – Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ita Enang – SSA to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) and Hon. Suleiman A. Kawu   – SSA to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
He was expected to take command at the Customs headquarters yesterday, and was being expected by the top echelon, but he didn’t show.
When our correspondent called the Customs headquarters yesterday to find out, no one was willing to comment obviously because it yet unclear how things will go.
The new Customs Comptroller-General, who was appointed on August 27, holds a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Criminology. He was military administrator of Kaduna State from 1996 to 1998.
