OMIS 2023 To Empower Maritime Professionals Through 3-in-1 Event

The Maritime & Offshore Awards (OMIS) has announced the opening of nominations for the prestigious Maritime and Offshore Award.

This year’s event will be held in September, in commemoration of the World Maritime Day by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will feature a 3-in-1, including a Capacity and Professional Development Conference, Exhibition, and Awards Dinner, to celebrate innovation and achievements in the maritime and allied industry.

According to the Chief Executive of The OMIS, Femi Da-silva, the conference is in partnership with some international partner, will offer free certificate practical first aid training, emergency response, and ancillary training for maritime workers, dock workers, port workers, maritime security, seafarers, truck drivers among others. In addition, the event will also provide a free professional development conference, bringing together stakeholders in the maritime sector to address pertinent issues in the industry and proffer solutions.

“The Awards Dinner will be the highlight of the event, attracting over 400 guests from the maritime, offshore, and allied industries,” he said.

Da-silva said, all stakeholders within the Maritime and Offshore industry are invited to nominate now for the awards which is FREE and strictly base on merit and equally call for participation for the Maritime Congress which promises to impact greatly in the sector while beaming light on the amazing work and opportunities in the sector.

He said, “Cash prizes and other price to the tune of 5000 usd have been earmarked to inspire young maritime professionals to be more creative, dedicated and innovative in discharge of their duties.”

Da-silva hinted that among the judges unveiled for this year includes a former NPA Port Manager Mr. Joshua Asanga who was also at various times, General Manager in the following departments – Marine and Operations, General Manager, Eastern Port and General Manager responsible for Monitoring and Compliance at Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) and Mrs. Ify Akerele, Vice President, Nigerian Chamber of Shipping.

“The maritime law expert with the finest distinction, Mrs Jean Chiazor Anishere SAN, who is also the UN sole representative for the African Women in Maritime (WIMAFRICA) remains our erudite and formidable Chairman.

“Nominations close on June 12, so don’t miss your chance to be part of this prestigious event that promotes the importance of innovation and excellence in the Maritime and Offshore Industry,” he said.
