The Nigeria Customs Service in Oyo state says it has collected about N1.7billion between January and February this year, even as it also disclosed that it seized 74 assorted vehicles within the period.
According to the Deputy Controller of the Command, Mr. Mogaji Mohammed, the vehicles were seized from their owners for defaulting in the duty payment to customs and non-regularization of necessary customs papers.
Mohammed gave these figures while playing host to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State council at a luncheon in Ibadan.

The Customs boss however assured that owners of the affected vehicles could still take possession of them if the necessary customs revenue were paid and the documents regularised..
Mohammed reiterated that the Customs Comptroller-General, Alhaji Abdulahi Dikko Inde has zero tolerance for smuggling and smugglers, and added that the service will continue to discourage activities of the smugglers and bring it to their barest minimum.
According to him, the Comptroller General had given the command10 new Hilux vans to prosecute the anti –smuggling war.
