Police Commissioner Restates SFU’s Commitment To Caging Corruption

The Commissioner of Police in charge of Special Fraud Unit (SFU), CP Anthony Ogbizi, has said the unit was committed to fighting corruption and fraud.
Ogbizi made the assertion in Lagos on Wednesday when he hosted a delegation from the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), led by its Founder, Dr Boniface Aniebonam.
He said that the officers and men of the unit were committed in the fight against corruption and fraud in line with the mandate setting up the unit.
The commissioner said he was pleased to work with NAGAFF in the war against corruption, urging it to continue in the effort to make the country a pride for everyone.
Ogbizi commended the leadership of NAGAFF for the support toward efforts to eradicate corruption, stressing that he was not surprised at its efforts against the menace.
“I have known the association since 1999 when I was the Head of Intelligence at Apapa Port,’’ he said.
The leader of NAGAFF, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, said they were in SFU to enter into a strategic understanding with the unit with a view to fighting corruption.
Aniebonam said that it was now time for Nigerians to support every effort to eradicate corruption, noting that the menace was stunting the country’s development.
He said corruption was dealing deadly blows to the nation, advising that no effort should be spared in putting an end to the menace.
He informed the commissioner that the association had set up a National Committee Against Corruption, with the full complement of experienced and dedicated members.
“We in NAGAFF are conversant with the saying that ‘when you fight corruption, corruption fights back’ and there is no gain saying the fact that we have started seeing the signs.
“The truth of the matter is that it is the tonic we need to become more aggressive against any attempt by anybody or organisation to intimidate or harass any of us.
“Except otherwise to the contrary, NAGAFF is directly in touch with Mr President in his efforts to fight corruption in Nigeria,’’ he said.
