POTEMAN Sets To Train Stakeholders

Port and Terminal Management Academy of Nigeria (POTEMAN) has said that it is set to commence a ground-breaking capacity building programme.

The innovation course tagged “anatomy of port and terminal industry”, according to Babatunde, is to expose clerks, officers, supervisors that are involved in cargo delivery in the terminal, documentation, legal and marketing departments of organisations to knowledge in the efficient, innovative delivery of quality performance and terminal efficiency.
Babatunde said that the aim of the course is to necessitate the understanding of basic ports and terminal operations and management in order to empower clerical officers, personnel of port and terminal industry staff.
“Due consideration is attached to the fact that most employees possess little or no knowledge which is needed to interplay the industry philosophy and strategies, it is on this premises that the Port and Terminal Management Academy of Nigeria, the foremost professional capacity enhancement institute have designed a day innovation course”, he said.
The course which is to come up on February 28th is outlined to equip participants professionally on basic Port and terminal responsibilities and regulations.
He added that in order for these attendees to occupationally position themselves into the ports and terminals, they must be well equipped into strategic and sustainable marketing and customer care roles.
“The course contents shall include basic port and terminal industry and environment, regulations, institutions and responsibilities, health, security, safety, emergency”, he said.
However Babatunde also said that the course content will include logistics and supply chain management techniques, basic port and terminal facilities and infrastructures management with information management theory.
 “They shall be exposed to port and terminal regulations such as port Act, 1954, Cabotage Act, 2007, ISPS code and Local Content Act, 2008, and they will also have the advantage of being equipped with marketing and customer strategies”, he added.
