Reforms: NNPC to Set Up Task Forces

Even as the oil industry expects the new Petroleum Industry Bill, the Group Managing Director Nigerian National Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Mohammed Barkindo has disclosed that task forces would soon be established in all the organisation’s formations ti implement the reforms.
Although details of the composition of the task forces are yet to be made public, the NNPC boss however hinted that it would be led by top management staff of the organisation and will also draw its membership form the workers.
Mr. Barkindo who recently concluded his maiden visit to NNPC’s formations and subsidiaries in Edo State and Delta States however expressed hope that the implementation of the oil and gas reforms would be much easier considering the quality of the corporation’s manpower.
Assuring the employees of safety of their jobs, he said: “The reforms are not about job losses. They are about creating jobs, transforming us from the state which we are to the state of successful oil companies. With you, we will carry out the transformation. Among all the refineries and plants that we have, you stand out as the best.”
Commenting on the state of things with the organisation, the NNPC boss lamented that the organisation had degenerated badly in the last 30 years, but urged employees of the subsidiaries to be ready to be part of the transformation, saying that the reforms are meant to transform then company to an integrated world class national oil company that would be able to achieve its core objectives.
