A Rescue operation is underway to recover missing crew members from general cargoship Hope after the vessel reportedly capsized this morning in heavy seas 25 miles south of Koh Racha Noi in Thailand.
The 1990-built, 5,550 gt vessel was bound for Chittagong , Bangladesh, according to a casualty report from Lloyd’s List Intelligence.
As the vessel took on water, the crew abandoned ship.

Before launching the lifeboats, the crew sent an Inmarsat distress signal, which was relayed to the Thai Department of Civil Aviation, reported Lloyd’s List Intelligence.
Bangladeshi cargoship Bux Moon reportedly gave assistance.
Bux Moon rescued 17 crew members but at least 13 people are said to be still missing. The Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command, based at Cape Panwa on Phuket’s east coast, dispatched one of its vessels to search for the missing seafarers.
