Stakeholders Commend FG Over Fuel Supply

Government has been commended for steps so far taken to ensure availability of petrol at filling stations across the country. A cross-section of petroleum product marketers and dealers gave kudos for the return of normalcy in fuel supply.
They equally praised the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for how it was able to rally private sector players; especially owners of depots and tank farms in an effort to ensure that the crisis ends
Some of them who also supply facilities in the eastern parts of the country disclosed that normalcy has returned to major towns and cities in the eastern states following supply of product to Warri, Aba, and Port Harcourt depots.
One of those who spoke to our correspondent, Mr Ugochukwu Osuji who is also the managing director of Guyglo Oil and Gas limited, a frontline petroleum marketer and distributor said that any filling stations that still sell petrol above the official pump price is doing it out of greed.
He acclaimed the efforts of government in ensuring that the scarcity is eased off saying that “government has started giving fuel to depots at a very good price for them to distribute, we have to be very honest that the federal government is trying for now”.
Speaking further he acknowledged that there is improvement in supply form the depots, even as he confirmed that the situation has improved, “the products are coming in now unlike what we used to know”, he added
Osuji also appealed to the federal government to ensure that the refineries are working so as to reduce importation of petroleum products into the country. While lamenting the poor state of the refineries, he said “the refineries we have can not absorb what we produce, our refineries are not as big as those ones we can find in Russia”, he said even as he added that “it is only when they are standard and stable that we can make our money, because we are talking about a product that is in constant need and if we have working refineries, we don’t have any problem because we are in a very good business”.
