Stallion Motors Plans To Set Up Six Auto Plants

In its bid to encourage made in Nigeria vehicles and to reduce the influx of fairly used vehicles into the nation ,Stallion Motors, organizers of the Autoline valentine Motor show has promised to establish six additional vehicle assembly plants to cater for the automobile needs in the country.
Addressing pressman at a briefing in Lagos last week, Mr. Parvir Singh, group Managing Director, Stallion Motors Limited said the plants were fundamental to the Federal Government transformation agenda which seeks to position Nigeria among world's foremost economies by 2020.

Addressing pressman at a briefing in Lagos last week, Mr. Parvir Singh, group Managing Director, Stallion Motors Limited said the plants were fundamental to the Federal Government transformation agenda which seeks to position Nigeria among world's foremost economies by 2020.
He said that the plants are intended as subsidiary of Volkswagen of Nigeria VON Automobile Assembly Plant at VON Estate, Lagos/Badagry Expressway and would assemble passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and trucks of various categories.
VON Automobile which commenced full scale operation in November 2011 supplied 240 units Ashok Leyland Falcon buses for the planned mass transit scheme.
Mr. Singh said talks are already being concluded with the respective principals to begin the tooling of the new plants, which according to him, would standardize automobile production to meet the road conditions of Nigeria, while also creating job opportunities for unemployed artisans and technicians in the country.
According to him, the backward integration initiative would weaken its principals' supply chain and consequently strengthen and reduce input cost, Mr. Singh said "the time to integrate is now if we truly seek to position Nigeria amongst leading economies by 2020."
