The, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal [KLT], of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents [ANLCA], has reiterated that clearing of vehicles from the terminal has been made possible by the current chapter executive of the association.

In a chat with our correspondent on the development, Chairman of the KLT Chapter of ANLCA, Comrade Aloy Anokwuru said that the terminal has been involved in vehicular clearing for more than one year, even as he added that the units of vehicles that are transferred to the terminal are still low.
He added that discussions are ongoing with shipping companies and terminal operators for more vehicles to be cleared at the terminal.
Anokwuru also said that plans are still on for vehicles to come into the terminal from the port through the waterway in order to ensure 100% safety of the consignment.
‘’Apart from containers, the terminal now handles vehicles, though it is small in number, but it is in the right direction because as we speak the terminal can accommodate 20 to 50 units of vehicles, but in no time we are expecting to receive over 200 units of vehicles very soon’’, he said.
The KLT Chairman disclosed that talks are still ongoing with Ports and Cargo Handling Services Limited on the possibility for vehicles transfer from the port to the off-dock terminal.
Speaking on the challenges experienced so far on the clearance of vehicles from the KLT, Anokwuru explained that, ‘’as far as you do not shortchange the Nigeria Customs Service, there is no challenges to clear vehicles from the terminal’’.
According to him, clearing of vehicles from the Kirikiri Lighter terminal was made possible by the Nigeria Customs, Five Star Logistics Terminal, the Nigerian Ports Authority and members of the association.
‘’We use to complain about the terminal being starved of containers, but today I can say that the issue of containers at KLT is a thing of the past’’.
‘’ I also made it possible to ensure that we clear vehicles from the place at the moment’’, Anokwuru affirmed.
