Maersk Container Ship Reportedly, Twice Attacked, Adrift Nigeria
Container ship MAERSK CARDIFF was attacked SSW of Port Harcourt at around 2000 UTC Jan 13 and later at 0000 UTC Jan 14 she was probably, boarded, or there was a second attack. As of 0230 UTC Jan 14, MAERSK CARDIFF was drifting near attack site with Nigerian security boat at her side. AIS is on. The ship is en route from Tema Ghana, port of destination not identified.
Understood the ship was boarded, but crew mustered in citadel, and remained safe. The ship resumed sailing at around 0800 UTC. There is unconfirmed report, that another ship, LNG tanker, was approached by two boats, but tanker escaped attack by speed and maneuvering.

22 Crew Members Rescued From Bulk Carrier Sinking In Philippine Sea
A bulk carrier has sunk in the Philippines sea but the crew has been rescued by a fishing vessel. 14 Chinese seafarers and 8 Bangladeshi seafarers were part of the crew at the time of the sinking. The ship is managed by Dalian Chain Star Ship Management.

The Bulk Carrier, Yong Feng was on its way to deliver timber from Papua New Guinea to China when the cargo shifted and the ship listed before sinking into the water. A Taiwanese fishing vessel that was nearby saved the 22 membered crew of the Panama flagged carrier.
The ship made an emergency call at 3.50 am.
Then the crew members took the lifeboats.
The Japanese Coast Guard searched for the crew and rescued the crew with the help of the Taiwanese trawlers 8 hours later
Taiwanese Fishing Vessel Rescues Crew From Sinking Chinese Bulker
The crew of a Chinese owned bulk carrier was rescued today by a Taiwanese fishing boat. The 23,386 dwt Yong Feng was sailing in the Philippine Sea, approximately 400 nautical miles southeast of Japan when they issued a distress call.
The Japanese Coast Guard reported that it received the call for assistance at around 4 am local time. The ship reported that it was taking on water and in danger of sinking. The crew reported that it was planning to abandon the ship in a lifeboat.
The Japanese Coast Guard dispatched a rescue vessel and also organized reconnaissance flights. Before the Japanese patrol boat arrived, the crew however was rescued by a passing Taiwanese fishing boat. Taiwanese officials reported that the 22 crew, consisting of 14 Chinese and 8 Bangladeshi nationals, was uninjured and all safely aboard the fishing boat.
