The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command has expressed profound appreciation to all maritime workers in celebration of the 2025 Workers’ Day, acknowledging their indispensable role in sustaining Nigeria’s economy and facilitating global trade.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin issued on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, described maritime workers as the “unsung heroes” of the national economy, whose dedication ensures that ports remain operational and secure.
“Maritime workers form the bedrock of global trade, ensuring that goods move efficiently and our maritime borders are safeguarded,” CP Ishola said, applauding the commitment of seafarers, dockworkers, engineers, logistics personnel, and terminal operators.
The police chief commended the resilience of maritime professionals who, despite challenging conditions and long hours away from loved ones, continue to keep Nigeria’s ports functioning. He emphasized the critical role they play in upholding the integrity of port operations and national security.
While encouraging stakeholders in the maritime community to remain committed to excellence, the CP assured that the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command would continue to provide unwavering support and protection to all maritime personnel.
“As frontline enforcers and partners in port safety and security, we pledge to work closely with all stakeholders to foster a safe, dignified, and productive working environment,” he stated.
