In a keenly-contested election at the ongoing International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Conference in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, two prominent Nigerian maritime leaders, Comrade Bob Yousou and Comrade Adewale Adeyanju have emerged victorious by securing key positions solidifying Nigeria’s position at the global maritime landscape.
Comrade Bob Yousou who is the National President of the Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association (NMNOWTSSA), clinched the prestigious position of President, ITF Africa Region, while Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, President General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), secured the dual roles of Chairman, West Africa, and Vice President, ITF, Africa region.
The elections, held on Thursday during the ITF Africa Regional Conference, centered around the theme “Peace and Justice for Sustainable Transport in Africa.”
The event which took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Abidjan drew an impressive turnout of delegates from various African countries, reflecting the continent’s commitment to strengthening transport worker empowerment.
