Amaechi Imposes Abubakar Tsanni As CRFFN Chairman

The much-awaited election of Chairman of the Governing Council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN)  took place few minutes ago at the Ministry of Transports in Abuja.

Alhaji Abubakar Tsanni has been announced as the new Governing Board Chairman, while Chief Henry Njoku is the Vice Chairman.

However, contrary to the expectation of many industry stakeholders that election would be conducted as stipulated by the CRFFN Act, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi had stormed into the meeting and demanded that he needed to appoint a chairman that would be able to work with him.

When the gathered freight forwarders attempted to quote the CRFFN Act, the minister practically shouted them down.

Amaechi's first words were "I have not come here for any inauguration, I just came to seek your advice on who should be chairman, so who do you think can be chairman?

"If you want to start quoting law , I will tell them to call in the legal adviser, this council has suffered a lot, and I need somebody I can work with to be Chairman "

Although he never appeared to favour candidacy of Tsanni initially, several nominations were made and he turned it down only to approve Abubakar Tsanni, a government appointee in the Counci

Henry Njokwu of ANLCA and Increase Uche of NAGAFF later slugged it out for the position of Vice Chairman of the Council. Henry Njoku emerged winner with 21 votes while Increase Uche had 8 votes.

After the chairman was determined, Amaechi stormed out of the meeting for another meeting and announced that the inauguration would be performed tomorrow morning (Thursday) by 9.am.
