• Dissolves  Executive councils of troubled chapters
Leaders of the Association of Nigerian License Customs Agents (ANLCA) met in Lagos last week under the auspices of the National Executive Committee (NEC) where it decided to replace executives of the four  western chapters where elections were yet to be conducted with administrators.
The decision to remove the chapter executives was one of the high points of the meeting which was presided over by the chairman of the association’s board of trustees, chief Henry Njoku who also seized the opportunity of the meeting to announce that the board of trustees has acquired two plots of land I Lagos for the building of a befitting national secretariat for the association which was founded in 1954 but which still operates from rented offices.
The NEC meeting was attended by leaders of the association from all the zones and was used to settle certain critical issues which had threatened the fabric of the association.
Earlier in his address, .the board of trustees chairman, had lamented that crisis relating to elections into the chapters in Lagos have made it impossible for the board to hand over to elected national leaders.
Explaining the predicament of the board of trustees, chief Njoku told the gathering that : “As you are aware, the board of trustees took over the running of the affairs of this noble association at the expiration of the tenure of past national executives. Contrary to the expectation and resolve  of the board to within the time frame as contained in the constitution conduct elections and focus on her own assigned roles, the board has found itself being saddled with  the responsibilities of administering the affairs of the association  for the past eight months”.
He equally lamented that the crisis in the association’s western zone has been largely responsible for the inability to conduct national elections. He accused some unnamed individuals in the Lagos axis for fuelling the crisis to their own personal advantage.
To ensure that free and fair elections are conducted into the remaining chapters, he reaffirmed the appointment of a six-member association electoral committee headed by Prince Olayiwola Shittu.
On the land which has been acquired for a national secretariat, chef Njoku assured that working has started in earnest on the property.
