In an obvious move to engender an all-inclusive electoral process towards the renewed elections into Lagos chapters of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), the association’s electoral committee (ASECO) has summoned an all-embracing stakeholders’ meeting.
A statement that was issued in Lagos on Thursday by the chairman of the newly – constituted ASECO, Alhaji Olayiwola Shittu disclosed that the meeting which comes up on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 is expected to be attended by past presidents of the association, members of the association’s board of trustees, past and present chapter chairmen as well as candidates in the forthcoming chapter elections.
According to the electoral committee chairman, the meeting which will hold at the popular Mobil Pegasus in Apapa, Lagos is expected to offer a platform for all stakeholders to know their responsibilities towards the conduct of credible and generally acceptable elections for the remaining chapters in western zone of association.
He added that the ASECO will also use the opportunity of the meeting to seek support of members of the association, even as he acknowledged that there have been agitation over previous efforts to democratize the remaining chapters in the Western zone of ANLCA.
“We also expect that elders of the association will find time to attend this very important meeting as we are all desirous of putting matters of elections at those chapters behind us”, Shittu said in the statement.
He explained that here is no genuine member of ANLCA who will like to pull the association down, adding that the essence of Wednesday’s meeting is to rub mind and prepare ground for a smooth conduct of elections into the troubled chapters. “We will conduct a credible election as we will be transparent in all that we do”, he assured.
