ANLCA Crises Deepens: Chieftain Denies Fresh Appointment

The leadership crisis which has engulfed the Association of Nigeria Customs
Licensed Agents (ANLCA) deepened last week when erstwhile, Chairman of the association’s Board of Trustees, Chief James Idornigie denied being appointed as interim leader of the association.
Although, Idornigie, in a statement issued in Lagos admitted having convened a western zone reconciliatory  meeting  in Lagos as an elder of the association, he convened a meeting to brainstorm on issues of differences and misunderstanding and to seek for ways of ensuring peace, he however declared that  at no time was he made to assume the leadership of the body.
He was reacting to reports in some newspapers (Shipping Position Weekly, not inclusive) that he assumed the leadership of the embattled association.
Idornigie said he considers the newspapers report offensive and an embarrassment, and urged whoever was responsibly for such on towards act to desist and give the association a chance to amicably correct whatever internal problems it may be facing.
“It is not true that I am or has been appointed the interim leader or chairman of ANLCA. I am neither the interim chairman of ANLCA nor the chairman of Board of Trustees of ANLCA and I am not desirous to be one. I am only an elder statesman and one of the founding fathers of the association and nothing more pretentious”, the statement read.
He continues: “The true story is that as a result of the crises of confidence going on in the association, I convened a reconciliatory meeting to pacify all the aggrieved western zone members of the association who urged me to intervene in the unwholesome manner the association was drifting to disintegration soon after the dissolution of the National Executive Council led by Chief (Sir) Ernest Elochukwu”.
The former chairman board of trustees said reconciliation effort is ongoing and pleaded with “all well-meaning members of the association including the Board of Trustees to support the process so that the association would grow forward in leaps and bounds”.
