The Customs Area Controller, Apapa command; Comptroller Jibril Musa has charged newly- promoted officers to be more committed to their duties.
Comptroller Jibril said this at the week end at Apapa during the decoration ceremony on the nine newly-promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Customs Service at the Command.
Speaking at the event, Comptroller Jibril said, that the event was a moment of celebration as officers have been promoted even as he described the event as a mixed feelings as some officers have been moved out of the command.
He also advised the officers that their promotion is coming with higher responsibilities.
“The position of the service is that when officers are elevated or promoted or converted from one cadre to another, we gather to share our joy together. This time around it is a moment of mixed feelings as we will be decorating some officers decorated, incidentally we may be missing some of them because there are some who have been promoted but will be leaving us for another place”, he said.
Congratulating the officers, he said: On behalf of the Comptroller General of Customs and the members of the management I want to congratulate all of us that have been promoted and I want to remind you that the management of the service is conscious of the fact that there are lots of challenges for people that appear challengeable”.
Admonishing the officers to justify their new rank, the Comptroller added, “it is a reward for hard work but I want to also remind you that to whom much is given, much more is expected.
Among the officers who were promoted are: One Deputy Comptroller who was promoter to Comptroller, five Assistant Comptrollers who were promoted to Deputy Comptrollers and three Chief Superintendent of Customs who rose to the level of Assistant Comptrollers.
