The President of the Africa Association  of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, who also celebrates his birthday today,29th January, has showered encomiums on the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for the successful hosting of the 2024 International World Customs Day (IWCD) celebrations in Nigeria.

In a press release issued on Sunday, Ogunojemite described the just concluded celebrations, with the theme “Customs Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose,” as a resounding success.

He commended the NCS leadership for mobilizing resources and personnel to organize a well-coordinated and impactful event.

“The 2024 IWCD celebrations in Nigeria have been a remarkable display of professionalism, commitment, and collaborative spirit,” Ogunojemite stated.

Ogunojemite further said that, “The NCS, under the able leadership of Adeniyi, has not only showcased the efficiency and dedication of the Nigerian Customs to the global community but also used this platform to highlight the crucial role of customs cooperation and collaboration in driving economic recovery and sustainable development.”

He particularly lauded the NCS for focusing on the theme of the celebrations, stating that it resonates deeply with what is needed in the Nigeria Maritime industry.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration in facilitating trade, promoting good governance, and securing borders.

The APFFLON President further noted the positive impact of the IWCD celebrations on the image of Nigeria and the NCS. He expressed his confidence that the event will go a long way in strengthening relationships with other customs administrations and attracting foreign investment to the country.

“The successful hosting of the 2024 IWCD has undoubtedly placed Nigeria on the map as a leader in customs administration and a committed player in the global trade arena,” he concluded. “We commend the NCS for its exemplary leadership and encourage them to continue their positive contributions to national and international development.”

The APFFLON boss also commended the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) and the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) for being honoured with an award of recognition by the World Customs Organization (WCO) at the event.
